  • The figure of a woman in the classical Japanese style looks into a hand mirror as she dresses and grooms herself. Behind her is an saturated Erté designed wallpaper culled from a 1960's era periodical. A 19th Century representation of the planet Jupiter peaks out from behind her head, while a sunrise ascends from over her shoulder. Covering her face and head are two pieces of technology, a vintage Wollensak reel-to-reel high fi, and a cassette tape. The figure's eye can be seen peeking out from behind the two reels of tape. PLEASE NOTE that the reel-to-reel (which came from a 1960's era magazine ad) was damaged in the glue down process and part of the finish was rubbed away. These things happen when working with vintage paper, and though it was disappointing, the piece is not "ruined," in the opinion of the artist. And though it woudl not be my first preference, it is simply an artifact of the materials and the process, like a classical sculpture without arms.

The title collage mounted to the back of the piec features a pair of ornately dressed retro figures standing on a vintage copier or proto-fax machine. It reads, "Dressing Up the Inner Dialogue, 8/20" and bears the signature of the artist.
